This book was kind of a letdown to an otherwise 5 star series. The other two books set up a tone of moral ambiguity that felt trashed and undermined in this book in favor of a shock value twist that reverts to a more traditional perspective that could be found in any superhero media. I give the series as a whole 4.5 starts but this book felt weak compared especially to Archenemies.

Another thing is that some plot points just happen with no context in almost a fantastical/mystical way despite the book setting itself differently. This could be a pro or a con but it felt a lot more YA-y than the other two.

Also the unnecessary gore at the end completely blindsided me, like what.

Marissa Meyer absolutely ATE with this series. Definetly the best book in the trilogy, it had the absolute perfect ending🤭 I will say it was predictable at times but it’s a perfect young adult book. AND THAT TWIST IN THE EPILOGUE OH MY. Anyways Nova and Adrian have my heart and i’m so sad that the series has ended😔
