Mañana-Tarde-Noche 100 sonetos de amor.

Neruda sure evokes beautiful sceneries in his metaphors, but composed as line after line after line of yearning, I grew tired of it too…

The poems’ sexuality aside, what a beautiful world is created here - landscapes, nature, weather, animals and insects - every line breathes them, so you can literally “see” words, feel the wind, smoke the fire, measure the distance.

There have been always something magical to me in different descriptions of the wind by different writers. I used to collect and re-read them, not sure why - there was always that strong emotional trigger they would cause - a sharp feeling of the wind on my face, followed by nostalgic thoughts, and at the same time - fear and excitement of events yet to happen. The wind of Pablo Neruda did this to me too.

I will re-read these poems in Spanish as I feel they have to be read so. “Es tan corto el amor y tan largo el olvido.” Love is so short and forgetting is so long. ”Quiero hacer contigo lo que la primavera hace con los cerezos. I want to do with you what spring does with cherry trees.

And I googled and saved the locations of Pablo Neruda’s 3 houses - with their pine trees, bright colors and flying constructions, the view over the sea. If I’m ever in Chile I want to pass by and try to see what he saw and feel what he felt - the dark pines, the starry nights, the distant harbors and ships, and of course - “the wind, travelling, waving clouds like handkerchiefs of goodbye”.
emotional

Really evocative poetry that relates the tenderness of love, the sorrow of loss and the impermanence of relationships to the overwhelming immensity of the natural world. Gorgeous, timeless prose.
emotional reflective

This one is hard to rate, because I know it's such a classic, and from a Nobel prize winner at that, but the writing style is just not for me. Though there were some verses that I liked and appreciated, I think I need my poetry to be a bit less vague and mysterious overall.
challenging emotional reflective slow-paced

Este tipo de obras que te recuerdan a que se habla MUY poco del taste of pedophilia de algunos autores. Quitando eso: no es pa tanto. Me quedo con la versión que hizo Adrienne Rich antes que con esto.

"Love is so short, forgetting is so long."
