A fast and enjoyable read, it retains some of the Mistborn feel but is unique at the same time. It's cool but not a new favorite. I'll keep going with the series though.

I started off struggling to read this. A story in a world I know but that has changed so much you don't recognise it, even more so than what Wax describes returning from the roughs, was tough to get through. For the first quarter is was definitely sustained by the not-so-subtle references to the Mistborn trilogy.
Quickly however, I got attached to Wax and the people surrounding him and started speeding to this refreshingly short (in Brando Sando terms) book. I was gripped for the longest time and as with other Sanderson books, I had to reread some passages near the end for reading them too eagerly.

I am so excited to be going back onto Scadrial and getting more information on the Cosmere! I loved the characters in this book and am so excited to see what happens in the rest of era 2!

A really fun start to Mistborn Era 2! The plot is a little bare-bones for Sanderson but the character work is great. Wax & Wayne are an instantly iconic duo and the world building is of the usual high-standard. It’s a nice stage setter and I’m looking forward to exploring the rest of the era.
