The cat royal series is probably my favourite series ever, a brilliant and instantly likeable young heroine who saves the day, wish we could have some more books in this series, cat royal has many adventures left to have :)

I didn't get a chance to finish it before I had to return it, but I think it has a happy ending.

This was a simple, delightful adventure mystery. The start of a six book series, it was engaging to read the beginnings of these characters and their friendships.
The different threads of Johnny’s life are spread out well throughout the book for the reader to grasp before or at the same time as Cat, creating an ongoing sense of discovery and danger rather than a rushed climax.
I first read this book when I was around the same age Cat is, and was absolutely transported into her world of adventure. Now, as an adult reader, I do keep getting caught by her age. Although she does not know her age, she can’t have been more than 11. Which makes the romantic undertones, or even explicit references to kissing from the 17 year old antagonist quite off-putting.

This series has sky-rocketed itself to the top of my must-buy list! I started and finished it in one day. Golding is a superb author! I love all of her characters! Besides Brian Jacques she's the only modern author who makes me cry because I want so badly to be friends with her characters. And props to Cat for her smarts, she figures things out faster than heroines usually do! And she isn't annoyingingly fiesty and quarrelsome either, she knows when to stop and let it go. Add to that a more creative mystery and delicious boys and this series is tops! I am now scrounging up money to buy this wonderful series!

I loved Cat Royal, the adventurous heroine of Drury Lane in London of 1790. A fun adventure story in a rich setting.

Not a bad book, but the pacing could've been better. There were parts where it dragged on. Overall, it kept me entertained. I didn't care too much for the twist at the end. I was expecting a high stakes mystery, but this didn't deliver. I think the author did a good job of immersing you into the victorian world. The writing was well executed and painted a vivid picture.
