Oof. This book did not live up to the hype for me. For a psychological thriller, I did not find it very thrilling at all. I thought it was slow and predictable, and I kept waiting for a twist that never came.  Maybe part of the issue is that I don't have kids so I couldn't relate to the motherhood drama? I'm honestly not sure, but regardless, this won't be going on my list of books to recommend.

MASSIVE TW FOR CHILD/BABY VIOLENT DEATH, CHILD ABUSE, SELF HARM AND GRIEF. Can't possibly overstate how much you should not read this if you are sensitive to any of the above, they're very explicit

I can't deny that this was a fast, gripping read. I really appreciated the insight Audrain gives into Postpartum Depression, it's not something that's often explored and she does it really well. But I was very underwhelmed by the rest of the novel. There's an attempt to explore a generation of ("bad") mothers, about a lack of bond between a mother and child, and how this idea of "bad" motherhood can be inherited from mother to daughter, but the filiation isn't particularly developed. I know we stay mostly in Blythe's point of view, but I wanted to know more about Etta and Cecilia, I wish we would've gotten to see their inner lives and how they tied (better, closer) to Blythe's.

This book is soooo twisted !!! I was hooked from the minute I started reading it !! I loved the 2nd person narrative, I think it really added some
Thing new to a story like this. I loved the different generation POV, showing the readers how each mother had her own set of issues due to how she was treated by her own mother. There are a lot of crazy, twisted things happening !!

The ending of this story will blow your mind !! I really shop she writes a sequel because I think EVERYONE wants to know what in the heck happened!!
