Here's what I didn't quite like:
- The way her family (and also everyone else) treats her, as if she's inferior (because of her alleged lack of magic); it makes me very uneasy
- I needed more groveling on his part. It was almost like he wasn't really fully hung up on her. Like she was inconsequential. Whatever he's feeling is not enough and he could've certainly tried harder to win her back (or at all).
- The word smirk. I have always not liked it but not it's even worse. Please. Use literally ANY other term to describe what you want to describe. Smirks are arrogant, and only used by assholes and I don't want to read about assholes.
- The whole funny business concerning the "true Mates" was sus from the beginning but towards the end even more so. Mainly because of how flippantly it's explained. Like, I'm questioning why it didn't have much an effect on them when they were younger - or older, really - but only as soon as he found out. On top of that it was so undefined, wishy-washy; that honestly made it feel less significant and not unavoidable. (It was honestly annoying how much he talked about wanting to find his true Mate, when she was there all along. Like. If she were really that "true", would you have felt that?? Or is it so easy to overlook that?)
Tropes: second chance, fake dating
Content warnings: bullying
Mood songs: (probably inaccurate because I projected this onto the book based on expectations)

James Newton Howard - »Tavern Brawl«

When Violet learns she will have to undergo a witchbond even though she doesn't have magic, and her ex Alpha shifter Lincoln is also needing a mate to continue as alpha, they spawn a fake dating scheme while they make plans to change the community. But maybe Violet isn't as magicless as she thought, and maybe the reason Lincoln abandoned Violet back when they were 18 was different than she thought...
This was a fun and cute paranormal romance! There is definitely good chemistry between the main characters and I enjoyed the development of their relationship. The urban fantasy world was interesting and I could definitely see reading a whole series of romances in this world! This is a fun read!
