Though written, interesting, and vastly creative, the sectional narratives (originally published in magazines) did not connect with me. I need to care about a universe before I read its history. To me, this was like reading The Silmarillion before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Asimov can really captivate the reader with small high-impact chapters. The Foundation is a simple but brilliant story of a society which is led not by religious fate and death, but by the clairvoyance of Hari Seldon. This way, each main character has a sense of immediate purpose, giving the idea of great contribution to a common goal.

It’s very interesting that Asimov wrote this series in 1942-1949, his interpretation of what the technologies of the future look like holds up quite well to our scientific knowledge of today, 80 years later. I’m keen to watch the show and also read the rest of this series. It’s interesting to see how a nearly formed society and empire develops and the societal trends and issues which arise over time. The solutions to the crises presented are also really cleverly presented. I rate bo/book

It was interesting, and I enjoyed it, but I don't think I'd continue with the rest of the series.
