Wow..the hype made me not want to read this book, but now I am glad that I did. One sitting, a fews tears, and I am in love.

What made this great for me was the great character development with both Archer & Bree. To see her trust her in herself again, to see past a person's external features, and see their actually worth. Archer's becoming to see past own demons and to slowly at his own pace break away from isolation.

I think my favourite thing about this is the connection, chemistry, and understanding they both have for each other. from 'wanting to speak your language' to 'You don't like thunderstorms'. It was amazing to read.

Knowing that they both are survivors of their own past and you get to see those moments. Especially, Archer's family history! I loved it all! Also, the spicy moments were a great bonus, lmao!!!

This book I think made me realize that I need to stop relying on the tik tok videos that find the 1 enticing sentence in the book and use that to lure you in.

It was ok. Kinda left me feeling icky for some reason. Very predictable right from the start. I found it hard to get to the end.
It felt very disney princess let’s fall in love and have nothing but each other in the time span of like a month. I wish it had taken place over more time. And if you came for the smut, that was also not great. if I’d googled a quick plot synopsis, I probably would feel  about as satisfied as I currently do.

i’ve heard a lot of hype about this book and it actually met most of it. I absolutely adored all the characters especially archer and I of course appreciate the representation and how his muteness was not healed but rather appreciated as it was. Of course the romance in this book was also really sweet, however it did bring up a couple of my problems with the book.

at some points I felt like the book was immaturely written, it was rather predictable and sometimes even cringy. I was going to give most of that to the fact that it’s definitely an older book and so for example the texting that sounds awfully millennial would since it was written years ago, however I think some sentences for example could’ve been taken out and they could’ve elaborated more on other topics. And also the plot was a little bouncy and I just felt like it needed more direction.

other than being a little cringy, though, i think it was still really sweet, especially the beginning parts and how they worked through their trauma together. i’d like to say 3.5 but i’m rounding down, def an easy read if you’re looking for a heartfelt romance.

TRIGGERS
death, trauma and ptsd, gun violence, drug abuse, almost sexual assault, cheating, and explicit but consensual sex. lmk if i missed anything.

few book couples have earned the title of true soulmates in my head, but archer and bree are soulmates. without a doubt.  the story of these two was inspiring and beautiful. they saw flaws and beauty, hope and fear, past and present. i greatly appreciated the fact that the characters self reflected in this book and acknowledged that they had to heal themselves first. they made sure they were each committing 110% to their relationship and i adored that. not many books do that, and they don’t let characters love themselves before loving someone else, but this one does. i’m speechless, truly.

This book was SO good!!! The love story drew me right in. There are some descriptive love scenes but nothing that couldn’t be skipped if someone didn’t want to read it.

This was going to be a solid 4 stars for me until those terrible last few chapters. With only three or so chapters left
The man who murdered Bree’s father finds her in Pelion ?? And shoots archer ?? Who is in a coma for 3 weeks but in the book it’s only a few paragraphs?? Also Victoria Hale was an absolute menace but had no confrontation in the book and no real consequences
those parts just felt like such lazy writing to me. The book was doing so well for what it was but then Sheridan just added these unnecessary elements that detracted from the main plot. That being said I did love Archer and Bree. Super cute and I loved the emotional depths they explored together. Also the smut was 👌🏼

The more i think about this book the more i realize i hate it. I think that the traumas from the main characters were romanticized. And the second that they got together i lost all my interest, which was way to soon. And wtf was with the plot with the hooker! it did not add anything to the story, they already have alot of traumas! I get it he doesn’t have experience but during that, he does repeatedly say that he knows he is doing the wrong thing. So why justify him going to a stripclub???!! And the ending wtf was that?! It was a whole new plot in the last few chapters. Overall i just cannot give it more than one star…
