It’s interesting to read the polarized reviews. I definitely was in a particular headspace that contributed to my binging of this book and perhaps the emotional gut punches that I felt over the course of the story were influenced by my mental state, so I’ll be interested to see if a reread will change my opinion. 

Regardless, I will happily place Archer on my shelf of favourite book boyfriends! I am as smitten as Bree quickly became. There’s just something about two tortured souls finding comfort with one another and growing together along the way. I appreciated the differing POVs, Bree’s, & both Archer’s past & present, to round out and provide insight into their respective psyche’s.

Alongside the characters mysterious and horrific backgrounds, the way the love story comes together is nice. I'd heard about this book and how it supposedly meant to make you cry. It was upsetting, but I did not cry. I might have a stone heart! It was sad though. Despite the sadness, it does have a

happy

ending. I really enjoyed the book. It had a good description of the area and characters alongside a detailed backstory which helps form the characters. Definitely recommend it for someone looking for something romantic, gripping and tense.
