This is a solid 3 stars - I enjoyed it. There’s a talking cat, who can talk to other animals. There’s good family meddling. There’s romance. And there’s a backyard breeder murdered - which you barely even feel bad about, so good thing Mimi is accused to want us to find the killer. There’s rich ladies and their dogs.
There’s a lot of things going on, because of that the mystery drags on to keep all the other subplots moving along.
Overall it was good and I will check out the next in the series.

I found the cat annoying

Another ebook so maybe that’s why? But I doubt it. It was pretty flat and… The MCs sister gets into trouble at work and the whole family gets together with group hugs, sure I’m a bit messed up and my family don’t hug but it felt a little odd, than it got more so. The MC shows up to her sisters job to try and get it back?

I’m not much for paranormal or witchy cozies and I thought the talking cat would be an issue here but the dull characters and plot is. Even if a cat with human intelligence and this is actually all cats but this one just learned to talk to humans for some reason does bring up some issues but whatever.

The characters are flat and the romance is dull. Paper thin.

just didn’t work for me personally but someone who likes the idea of a talking cat cozy mystery would probably love it!

I liked the concept of this book - woman solves crime with her talking cat! - but was disappointed by the execution. Everything felt very one dimensional, stilted, formulaic, or just badly written. Like, why would you go to your sister’s school to talk with her boss and expect that to help her keep her job? Why do you have this new business you just started and yet hardly seem to ever be at, with wandering around LA to investigate? And her relationship with Josh was utterly devoid of any spark or emotional investment on my part. Marshmallow was, by far, the best part of this book.

Kinda boring

The first in the series. Mimi has just opened her own pet grooming salon. At 25, her life goals seem to going on track. Her younger sister gives her a cat, who to Mimi's surprise can talk to her. I enjoyed parts of the story, but hope as the series progresses it gets better.
