lighthearted fast-paced

My first time reading Persuasion and it exceeded my expectations for it.
I enjoyed its faster pace than some other Austen novels, I enjoyed Anne being a livelier and more opinionated protagonist than some others, and overall it was a lighthearted and easy read.
I don’t think any of the characters have the depth to be Austen’s best, but as always there were very interesting observations and characters studies in her writing.
I appreciated Anne the depth of Anne’s feelings and being on the rollercoaster journey with her.

It won’t be a book I hurry to read-read but I had a good time with it.

I don't know if it was just bc of stress and stuff going on in my life or the book itself but the first half of this was REALLY hard for me to get into, which is weird bc I've never had an issue with other Jane Austen novels. The second half though was incredible and I could not put it down, I finished it the same day after hitting that point. The romance was so sweet and believable, especially under the circumstances, and even without it I'm obsessed with Anne and feel very seen and represented by her. Highly recommend with the caveat of it taking a bit to pull you in, but worth it once it does.
