This was such a fun book! I loved the author’s postscript where he said he got inspiration from The Princess Bride. This book definitely gives TPB vibes. The characters were great, the weird juxtaposition of the characters of  Tress’s world with those of more established planets, and the concept of spore seas made reading this  book a unique and engaging experience.

This book was so, so cute. I’ve read a few other Sanderson novels (Mistborn and Way of Kings, notably) and this book is truly just a fun, little treat for Sanderson fans. I’d definitely recommend going into this with the mindset of having a good time. This is not a high stakes novel with epic world building or story telling. It’s for those that like the whimsy world of make-believe.
