I was so ready to give this book 3 stars and then that ending had me GAGGED. SHE KILLED HER COUSIN LIKE I WOULD HAVE NOT GUESSED THAT IT WAS HER.
This one was a bit too dark for my taste but I did think the spice was much better than the first one. I just felt bored in a few places cause some of the scenes felt repetitive. I am giving this 4 stars because the ending had me shocked and really took me by surprise. The writing at the end was so good! Like it definitely has me hooked and ready for the next one.

I donโt even know where to begin. While this book is supposed a Romeo and Juliet retelling and inspired by Wednesday, I felt the latter had influence more than the former. I do wish I saw more of a Romeo and Juliet dynamic. Nevertheless, Drethi Anis has done it again, this book consumed me.
This was way better than the first book. For some reason, I couldn't connect to Zane, but Damon... oh! Damonโฆhe had me in a chokehold. I was prepared for some crazy stuff due to the trigger warning but him drugging her to marry her. Yes, I found that extremely romantic (morality officially left the chat here). He pretended to be the good guy and completely tricked her. Did I enjoy the scene where poppy found out and what followed after? You have no idea

I have to say Drethi will now be my Go to Author for Dark Forbidden Romance with mad obsessive and stalkerish flavours.
This is the second book in the series and can be read as standalone of sorts but trust me, you need to read book 1, 5000 Nights of Obsession, which is Poppy's Mom, Piya Ambani's book with Zane aka Alex Trimalchio and IT IS SOOOOO FREAKING AMAZING AND DEFINITELY A MUST READ, for people who love reading twisted love๐ซฃ stories.
Now, this one was no different in the flavour department where obsessive vibes go.
Drethi writes her characters having such a raw and compelling passionate natures, that you will feel like you need to have your head examined for liking them so much.๐ป๐ซข
All Poppy wants is to investigate more into her cousin's killing, and gets roped into a threesome with the witness and a mysterious stranger.
A Passionate night with a not so stranger gets Poppy into the sights of her family's enemy, Damon Maxwell.
What Poppy doesn't know is that Damon is already obsessed over his favourite girl.
Damon Maxwell never realised when his protectiveness for the daughter of his family's arch nemesis slowly started turning into something more until it became an obsession for him.
He was a do gooder and society hailed him as a hero for being part of so many good causes and helping out people, earning Damon the status of a celebrity.
Also, in addition he was from the Maxwell family, which added more to it.
Poppy Ambani is Damon's weakness and madness.
But they can never be together as their families are enemies and also Poppy's family would never accept an outsider.
Damon was madness and passion yet his twisted love still tugged at my heartstrings because of how ready he was to cross any boundaries for his girl without having second thoughts.
Ahhh... A Crazy, twisted and deliciously written story with a twisted romance that will melt off your kindles and a dash of suspense that will leave you shocked. Loved this one.โฃ๏ธโฃ๏ธ

A book where I am more obsessed with the FMC than the MMC (rare for me)
Poppy has been ready to take over the Ambani Corporation since she was a child. Damon is the heir to said corporation's enemy, but unlike many other novels, it is not simply business that keeps them rivals but personal wounds and pride. Damon has decided they are going to be together, and Poppy should be ready to come along for the ride. That however is not really Poppy Ambani's style.
I love Poppy Ambani. She is strong, badass, and different from a lot of other FMCs. Fatal Obsession was the first book I read with a female character with ASPD. Drethi has clearly done research as she avoids the stereotypes and allows for the characteristics to be both weaknesses AND strengths. As someone who is neurodivergent (in a different way) I really enjoy that. AND I love that Damon sees them that way too.
Damon is a great MMC (we love an obsessed boy who falls first), and he will do ANYTHING for the woman he loves ... what is not to like?
While a Romeo and Juliet inspired novel it does not read like a modern day telling a la the 90s Leo Dicaprio movie, but is much more inspired by the story (which I prefer)
I do recommend reading 5000 Nights of Obsession First as there are characters who are introduced in book 1 (including Poppy) who are in this book. Not required though as it is a separate story.
Thank you Drethi and Give Me Book PR for sending me an ARC of Fatal Obsessions!
