I mean, it wasn't bad... I think I expected too much out of this book because of all the hype that is behind this particular book.

The characters were fine but I honestly didn't really care about any of them. I did really like Hermes but she wasn't in the story nearly as much as I wish she was. Maybe she will be more of a focus in future books. As for Persephone and Hades... they were fine but they felt more like cardboard cutouts than actual people. I just wish there was more characterization and character growth than what we got.

The plot could have been more interesting than it actually was. There was a whole build up and an actually really interesting world here but you wouldn't know it because NOTHING HAPPENS. Maybe Roberts will use the world to its full extent in the next books but wish she utilized it here as well.

Overall, this book was fine but not anything amazing.

It was a good retelling. I much prefer fantasy but the modern retelling was still nice. I just wish he’d have put a ring on that finger and made her take out that IUD lol. There was some funny quotes in the book as well that made me LOL.

Fifty shades meets the likes of Greek gods and the spice is unreal, paired with a plot of revenge, sassy lead female, and a broody yet caring lead male. I can’t wait to tackle the rest of the series.

I really loved the take on Olympus in this, where Hades, Zeus, etc were titles as opposed to actual gods. I've read a lot of persephone/hades retellings and this was the first I've come across with that take on things. Otherwise the story was a little rough, but definitely enjoyable. If you're not looking for anything too deep, it's a great read.
