An extremely immersive memoir. I usually loose interest in non fiction, but as always Coelho’s masterful writing sucked me in. I love how everything flows, it feels like any other novel. In the author’s note Coelho writes that he used third person point of view to give the characters a unique voice and he successfully does so. I loved the character of Karla and did not expect the ending. Coelho once again blesses his readers with his wisdom and relaxed story telling. It’s as if he is there telling you the wild tales of his youth. I recommend this book to anyone that is interested in the 60s, hippie culture, or spirituality. Loved this story!

I got this book because I loved the alchemist, but this felt a little too preachy in terms of spirituality at some points. The prose was beautiful, but I think just not my taste.

I loved how we could learn about such intresting people and their stories through this book. It was still somehow boring to me and it took me long to finish.
Graphic: Police brutality, Kidnapping

Not a very thought provoking story... The character sketches were somehow incomplete... Something seemed missing.
A story of Paulo and Karla. A magic bus... A road trip from Amsterdam to Nepal.
And there is Istanbul... I felt a void reading it. Yes, there are some remarkable things as always in Coehlo's novels... Finding something beyond the physical world, experimenting with spirituality...
Its lame at points but the narration seems true... It hits.
What I found resonating with myself is the sams urge to find meaning in life and travel the world. Rumi, happens to my favourite poet.
"Now I needed my soul to dance with me"
As always, I struggled with boredom to finish it but its got a FEEL... no other novel can provide.
