I loved Sam and his relationship with Celaena.
I know there is a lot of back and forth on whether AB should be read first or later on in the mix of the TOG series, but starting with it has increased my intrigue for anyone wondering. Also, my friend who is a diehard fan of TOG swears by starting with AB and I trust her above all else (even you, Ms. SJM).

I wasn't expecting to enjoy the prologue novellas as much as I did, but it built a compelling portrait of Celaena's character that also filled in some of her less understandable traits in the first two books. The romance plot in this book is far more compelling and believable than those in the other two books, and I hope this is a sign that the romance arcs will continue to mature as the series progresses.
Graphic: Confinement, Death, Gore, Violence, and Blood
Moderate: Sexual violence and Vomit
