Loved this.... it was almost like a glimpse at a Downton Abbey spin-off of the poorer relations. Looking forward to ‘Love in a cold climate’.

One of the authors my parents swore by; I'm pleased to confirm for myself their good taste. Nancy Mitford is Jane Austen with bigger teeth; the characters she crafted in The Pursuit of Love are the kind of insufferable loveable people you could only love if they were your own family, and in that sense you feel like you've become part of it. Fanny, the narrator's wit and charm, help mould Linda into a strong and likeable character despite her flaws, and makes her heartbreaks all the more heartbreaking.

This version of the book had a disclaimer as to the badly aged parts of this book, so I would caution anyone to research these before reading.

It's always lovely to revisit a beloved classic. This was every bit as good this time around.
