I'm really not the target audience for this so please take this review with a grain of salt. I haven't read this Arnie series before but won a copy in a blog giveaway. While it has a cute premise, with a talking donut and his best friend who is a slice of pizza trying to uncover the truth about a possible alien invasion, I found that the story dragged and was too predictable to hold my attention. I also wasn't a huge fan of all the word play, such as "tae kwon dough," "take me to your kneader," and "outer spastry," though I can see younger children enjoying it.

The illustrations are fun though I'm disappointed it is not in color. There is a lot of variety in the kinda of text used. It looked cool but actually made reading the book a little difficult.

Overall it was just an OK read for me but I think younger children might like it. And the format makes it a good book for children who are transitioning from picture books to longer chapter books.

Arnie is back and up to his usual antics!
My favorite part about this book was the arrows that showed how to read the talk bubbles. I think that is one of the hardest things for readers to figure out when they read multiple talk bubbles. They have trouble following the conversation.

When reports abound that people are being abducted by giant doughnuts from outer space, Arnie doesn't believe it. Until suddenly, one day, he finds himself aboard the spaceship, traveling with the UFOnuts back to their home planet. Are these good aliens or evil aliens? Join Arnie and Peezo on another one of their goofy adventures. Recommended for grades 1-3.

Lots of laughs. My son did not get the dough-latin, but it cracked me up.
