This is an incredible graphic novel. The pictures are great and the use of color may so subtly be working to tell the reader something more. It’s a wonderful LGBTQ+ book but one that I think anyone could learn from - a lesson in love, relationships, and knowing what’s worth putting your energy into.

Honestly I was just so excited to read this because when I read the blurb I realised they were lesbians, which automatically means the book is going to be good. Even though it was obviously short because it’s a graphic novel you were still able to connect to the characters even if they weren’t mentioned a lot. Fun little read for the night before school starts.

Solid

A super cute graphic novel about a young woman learning how to be a better friend to her bestie AND herself? Sign me up!

It hurts a little to watch Freddy continue to put up with Laura Dean's shenanigans, but it's worth it in the end.

I've seen this book mentioned a hundred thousand times since it came out and yet for some reason I never knew it was a graphic novel. Go figure.

Anyway. This was...fine? But there were so many different plotlines going on that I had no idea how it was going to play out and what was going to happen next. And there were So. Many. Characters. that I feel like I was constantly losing track of who they all were and how they were all connected. And I definitely didn't expect that so much of the story would be Frankie feeling miserable because Laura fucked her over yet again.

In summary: eh.

The story was okay but the art was amazing! I really could see that Freddy really wants to get everything that she wants but it seems that it causes more problems for her. I liked the inclusive characters but felt like they fell a little flat (which can happen very commonly in graphic novels). The artwork however was remarkable and really told the story.
