wanted to read this one for awhile and having 3 hours of leisure time in a bookstore finally gave me the opportunity. it is just what i wanted. the art is lovely, the characters feel real and their conflicts feel urgent. i think this is just a very important book to exist in general. i only wish it was longer so i could see more of everything– more freddie hanging out with her friends, more donut shop girl, and maybe even more fallout from the inevitable breakup, because that kind of thing is sure to not end so neatly. but it works for what it was.

Lo sentí muy punto medio, no me llegó, ni me cambio en nada, para pasar la tarde y no mucho más. Creo que podría haberse profundizado en varios aspectos y dejó algunos puntos sin resolver, metiendo temas que no pudo terminar de abarcar.

I loved this graphic novel! I've been meaning to read it for some time now, but one of my friends recommended me it recently and it motivated me to finally pick it up. I adore the art style, and I loved how despite there being only three major colors (pink, white, and black), they were utilized in such a way that emphasized the emotions portrayed on the paper sooo deeply. I also loved all of the characters, except Laura Dean herself although I acknowledge the reasoning behind her actions. This story is the type to make you self-reflect on your own past and current relationships with friends and lovers alike. I think ultimately what I got out of it was that love is complicated, and it never seems to be a sure thing unless you truly listen to yourself. I need to do more of that... Also, that the love between friends should be cherished just as much as the love between lovers. I definitely felt comforted by the end and am now wanting my summer class to finish even faster so I can hangout with all my bestest of friends as soon as possible!!
