Orgon does some of the craziest dick riding I’ve ever seen in my life of Tartuffe

Honestly kinda realistic that dudes will listen to their dude friends and let them manipulate them 😭 lot of meat riding fr

The self-righteous religious shamers were the OG performative activists.

Crazy that this was so controversial back then but also crazy that he said all this back then

Kind of a feminist W

Also very funny ngl

This excerpt goes pretty hard :

DORINE. “Tell him one cannot love at a father’s whim;

That you shall marry for yourself, not him;

That since it’s you who are to be the bride,

It’s you, not he, who must be satisfied…

And if this Tartuffe is so sublime,

…..He’s free to marry him at any time!”

Your father forcing you to marry the pick-me boy named Tartuffe must’ve been horrible. Thank God for women’s rights! 😀

Crazy that is so clever and enjoyable and it’s from like the 1600s. Rare French W.

funny medium-paced

From Molière I expected something better or perhaps I just read too much fantasy now and my expectations changed :)

I love this play. Thank God for Dorine.

meh. i know there’s some deeper message here that i just could not care to dig into this time round but the plot was just lacking. dorine slayed though my common sense having girlie <3

Read for theatre history course.
Pretty enjoyable! Really surprising and fun to read!

Thanks deux ex machina

Maybe the appeal gets lost in translation, I don't know. Or maybe the translation I read just wasn't very good. But this didn't interest me much the first time around. Making a note to come back sometime and see if it grows at all.
