I bought this book at a used bookstore in DC called "books for america" for $1 off a new arrivals rack.

this is my third favorite play by my third favorite playwright (the winners being danton's Death by Buchner and Lucifer by vondel, followed closely in fourth by a scottish play about grave robbers who murder someone to get a body and hilarity ensues, but I forget what that one is called).

I decided to buy it and reread it, it is still very very good, I bought the actors edition though and it plays down the religious criticism heavily in the introduction, it's weird. but the play is translated in rhyming couplets. all in all sooooo good it could only be made better by adding beheading or the devil.

Amazingly funny. It got a bit dry by the end, but it was hilarious 'til the very end.
