Again, Agatha is Agatha. I especially like the aura of the 20s that reading these books evokes in me.
I like the way she works the characters and that in the end she can always surprise me(I was not expecting who killed Ruth..)

2023

I was not expecting who killed Ruth.. again.....

Agatha dedicated the beginning chapters to the backstory of different characters before introducing Poirot. Every character in the book was distinct and quirky in their own way! It added a lot of layers to the tale but was a tad excessive in some instances.
I do wish that the train settings were better explained and used more or even allowed some graphics to help readers contextualise better.

This was an enjoyable if decidedly average Hercule Poirot mystery. It took a long time to get started, as we first get third-person views of a bunch of different characters — I don't think we even see Hercule Poirot for the first quarter of the book. I've read enough Christie now that I was able to pick out the killer pretty early, though I still didn't piece it all together before Poirot explained it. This was certainly an improvement over the previous book's save-the-world plot, but it's not one of the best.
