I could have been 4 stars, but I think the last couple chapters discussing the outcomes of long lifespans weren't very strong.

This was a total drag. One of my reading goals this year is to not force myself to finish books I’m not enjoying, so this is a DNF for me.

A nice mix of storytelling and science. Not too much in the way of self-help; rather descriptions of the past, present, and future state of longevity research.

A couple of downsides for me are the extremely human-centric perspective, and the naive optimism and trust bestowed on the world's richest and most powerful people.

My biggest complaint, however, is the complete lack of compassion for the animals that were tortured and murdered in the longevity studies performed by the author and his labs. I've tried to ignore this when giving my overall rating because unfortunately this is par for the course in our current system.

A very interesting insight in scientific research currently breaking the surface of ageing and the process of classifying it as a disease, rather than a fact of life.

Interesting notes on the current studies, and what it could mean for the future.
