Simple cozy mystery with an endearing protagonist & supporting cast. I recommend the audiobook, the narrator's voice is lovely. However, Molly seems to be written inconsistently. At times she has trouble understanding obvious social cues, but at other times she's very perceptive and can see through people's lies...this shifts depending on how convenient it is for her to understand things for the plot. There's nothing particularly surprising about the actual mystery except the very last reveal, which I'm not even sure how to feel about.

Oh poor sweet Molly and the terrible people who she thought were her friends. The main character is very interesting because she’s direct, literal and doesn’t convey peoples emotions well. So the point of view is of a person who is confused about who to trust and if they’re laughing at her or with her. I will say when I was finished with this book I really wanted the “tour of Italy” from Olive Garden, it’s cute that’s her favorite restaurant.

I really enjoyed this book’s unique perspective. It was interesting to read this and see through Molly’s eyes how what may be “obvious” to some isn’t to others. It helped me see how oblivious I can be and how our legal system needs to help cater to those who aren’t neurotypical.

Good story with a fun cast of characters. Slow at times and somewhat repetitive towards the end, but overall a great read.

Ugh. My audiobook slump continues. I didn't go into this book expecting it to be an excellent, award-winning read by any stretch of the imagination, but this was bad. This author's stereotypical characterization of nearly every character of this book was absolutely cringe-worthy, but the way that Molly, the main character, was portrayed was borderline offensive. She felt like a cartoonish representation of someone on the ASD spectrum. It wasn't cute or quirky. It just used the main character as an object to be mistreated. There is a right way to include neurodivergent characters (which is so important in literature) and a wrong way, and this author did this all wrong. No thank you. Don't even care about the ending.

I'll have to come back to review this one properly — still parsing all my feelings — but it's 3.5 stars from me for now.
