I have loved this book since I was a child and it doesn't matter what age or decade i read this novel, it always invokes the same reaction.

Mary Lennox is one of the best heroines ever written. She's human and believable and deeply flawed by her upbringing. She learns from this and throughout the book, is instrumental to her own journey and owns her choices and mistakes.

She isn't the perfect human being and is very much a product of her time but she does her best to better herself and improve things around her. 

Maybe I'm biased as I have read this book repeatedly since I was a child, but I cannot help but love this book.
