Davide Baldacci delivers another exciting and gripping story that i found highly entertaining.
Fast paced plot, good characters and a solid mystery.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

The first Archer book was fabulous.  This one....meh. Not so much.  Difficult to get into,  convoluted story.... I'll read the next one, but if it's still "downhill" then no more.  Baldacci is a terrific author and I like the era of this storyline but I'm ready to read The Camel Club books all over again.  I struggled to finish the book.

Baldacci clearly is a fan of old Bogart movies, as this book imitates the gumshoe genre down to the constant passing of the hip flask. Ridiculously preposterous twists and turns connected by tropes and stereotypes. Clearly being written quickly and mindlessly.

“Fame and influence are both often fickle and localized.”

Smart, colourful, and filled with interesting and snappy dialogue.

This was my first Baldacci read. The story was very enjoyable and there was a solid mystery that kept me turning the magic. I did have a problem with how the strong female characters would disappear from the story for huge chunks of time. And it very much felt like he didn’t know how to write for a female character. But it was pretty good.
