The reviews of this book that I saw prior to reading it made me quite nervous to see how one of my favorite literary characters, Atticus Finch, changed from a person with iron clad morals, to someone who became a "racist." However, after finishing the book, I now understand where both Scout and Atticus are coming from (regarding their conflicting interests), and how they are both so incredibly similar, and yet completely opposite, in personalities. Scout (or, I guess Jean Louise now) is so tenacious, and I could feel her anger and frustration while I was reading. Atticus has the same gentle nature that I grew to love when I first read To Kill a Mockingbird in 9th grade. I truly hope that Harper Lee wanted this book released, and wasn't pressured, as rumor has it. Go Set a Watchman is a beautiful novel and should be considered by any lover of To Kill a Mockingbird.

The book read like a first draft. It didn't get plot until nearly halfway through. Then the plot slips away and the conclusion is unsatisfying.

I try really hard not to compare novels especially sequels, but I just didn't have the same desire to devour this novel like I did with To Kill A Mockingbird. The messages were just as important, but I did not enjoy it as much.

A good read, but it pales in comparison to the original!

The ending was the only good part of this book, and even that wasn't as impressive as To Kill a Mockingbird.
