Cute!

I really enjoyed this read! Elec turned out a lot sweeter than you would think after the first half of the book. Not a fan of the long separation and the OW drama, but that's just personal preference. Will definitely read her again.

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: taboo
Angst:

It was okay. Not the best not the worse slice of life.
I liked seeing two homecoming but was hoping for a little more romance.
We only see two couples and I think it would have been fun to see the whole Crostoan tribe.

5 stars. Oh, this one still breaks my heart and somehow manages to put it back together again. Five years later and this still made me an emotional wreck just like it did the first time. Though I will say that some aspects of it have not aged well at all in the time of its release but as a whole it still holds up wonderfully. The relationship between Elec and Greta is so electrifying and heartbreaking and just a lot of bad timings and missed opportunities. Sprinkle that in with devastating family problems and it just makes both of their stories and their romance feel that much more rewarding when they finally figure it out and get their shit together in the end. I know this story isn't for everyone but I love this book. Fucking love it so much and I'm glad that I finally re-read it and I look forward to reading it again whenever I'm in the mood to have my heart stomped on again.

Oh my, I loved this book! I bought this one because I was hoping for some taboo with the brother/sister relationship. To my disappointment, there really wasn't anything taboo at all. But, once I got into the story I was completely taken with these characters and the drama that their lives entailed. There was a perfect amount of angst that hurt in just the right way. The sexual tension was delicious! I loved the shocks and surprises. I'm actually impressed with the surprises, as I can usually see them coming many chapters away. I hate the predictability I'm used to, so this book was like a breath of fresh air. I loved the unique way the author gave us Elec's POV; I found that very creative. This is the first book I've read from this author, but she definitely has my attention now. I plan to start on her other books soon. I would highly recommend this story!

"Her heart was beating against my chest, and mine immediately responded by matching the rhythm. Our hearts were communicating in a way that our egos wouldn't allow with words. The heartbeat is the purest form of honesty."

This book didn't let me do housework for an entire day! Loved the story and the characters! Greta lived with her mother and stepfather. She didn't meet her stepbrother until one day he came to spend senior year of high school. He had a horrible relation with his father and he was quite horrid to Greta and disrespectful to Greta's mom. Even so, Greta tried to be nice because she saw through the bad attitude to the pain beneath. Little by little they improved to hanging together. Even so, Elec refused to explain why he and his father acted like they hated each other.

Elec was hot and Greta was very attracted but since she detected some rejection from him, she refrained from acting on the attraction. I don't want to spoil it so will only say that things get more involved and a lot of heartfelt emotions develop. At one moment in the story I actually ached for Greta. I loved her character, she was kind, straightforward, caring, and so very noble. Elec was conflicted, but once he got over his nastiness he was playful and considerate. The second part of the book kept me riveted, hoping for a good ending and hoping it would not be a cliffhanger. Great reading!

Definitely a guilty pleasure book, but a fun read is a fun read and this was a really well written, steamy romance.
