I absolutely loved this book. As someone who spends time each year in the backcountry hiking, I was hanging on every page as we learned more about the bear attack. Cameron's ability to link this freak attack with her own cancer is quite engaging.

Highly recommended!

(And I'll probably be carrying bear spray on my next adventure in the wilderness).

This memoir goes deep into what it’s really like to live with cancer — the fear, the small moments that matter, and the emotions that don’t get said enough. The writing is straightforward and honest, showing everything without sugarcoating. It lays out the pain, the confusion, and the quiet strength that comes from facing so much all at once. It’s not just about illness; it’s about holding on to who you are when everything else feels uncertain.

The last few chapters made me really emotional. As someone whose family has a gene mutation similar (or maybe even the same, I don't know) to the one in the author's life, her reflections on cancer and life really hit close to home, but I think they'll be impactful on any readers. Her thoughts on climate change, conservationism and wildlife-human co-habitation are also really important. I enjoyed her voice (both metaphorically and literally, as reads this audio book masterfully) and will be adding her other books to my TBR.

Very over simplified and over explained but I enjoyed it!
