It's a good story, probably 4 stars, but after reading this I feel like someone's gleefully trampled on my throat and chest. So I can't bring myself to say I really liked it.

I'm going to go give my almost-husband a hug now.

3 and 1/2 stars really. I enjoyed reading it but it's two delicate love stories within an interesting framework. So not my thing.

Some very pretty moments, but ultimately unnecessarly tela novela dramatic. I would've rather read 300 pages of Patchett talking about the beauty of nature and music without everything else this book had that got in the way.
