I loved this and I found myself repeatedly getting SO MAD at his family, especially his mom, as if they were real people I could protect Ray from. I found the ending super sad, which worked but since I was so invested I wanted it all wrapped up pretty and joyful for him.
This book came to my attention thanks to Anne Bogel and Modern Mrs Darcy. In one of Anne's emails (I'm a subscriber) she mentioned and raved about a recent podcast with Brendan Slocumb, and then mentioned this book. Her enthusiasm caught my attention and, having now read the book, I am hooked.
This books contains episodes from Brendan's life and, make no mistake about it, his encounters with police made the hairs on my arms stand up. When Ray, the main character, talks about his music, I could hear his passion and imagine the music pouring out from his violin and his soul.
A most enjoyable read, overall, and a mystery to boot! Am looking forward to Brandan's next book, due out in April.

I listened to this book on Audiobook. Like other reviewers, I enjoyed the music throughout the story. The storyline was interesting, but the culprit was obvious. I would recommend this book.
