I was drawn into this book by the romance and spicy scenes, but what kept me reading and enraptured was the world building and characters! I can honestly say that I have never read a book where the main character's passion and hobby is making games/figurines and I truly don't know how I have gone this long without it.
Meg is the main character, a curvy red head who has by now learned her lesson to read contracts and waivers before signing them.  She finds herself with a minotaur for 2 weeks, oh and did I mention he is very sexy and also the King? (Oh and his kingdom is kinda...falling apart!) Throw in a demon kitty, magic, some sizzling chemistry and you got yourself a great romance!  I loved Leander (the aforementioned Minotaur King) and how he absolutely is entranced with Meg. (He calls her little warrior! *swoons*) 2 weeks isn't a lot of time to get to know someone, especially when that someone immediately leaves to go to fix his crumbling kingdom. The time limit becomes even more strained when it is revealed that the only way for Leander is to save his kingdom is a special magic. A magic that can only happen between two people...er....a person and a Minotaur that is.  I really feel like book picked up as it went, and once lore and world building were introduced was when I *really* started liking this! The reveal at the end regarding families made my brain start having theories and ideas, and I almost wanted a string theory to chart out potential next book happenings. Either way this was a sweet, light hearted spicy book that left me wishing the two had more encounters but either way I enjoyed it, and will be reading the sequel for sure.
Monster Romance is my biggest vice, forever and always and I am not ashamed!
Thank you to the author for sending me this book to read and review.
The Cover
You know I am pretty finnicky when it comes to covers, but less so when it comes to Monster Romance books. (Typically monster romance authors tend to be indie authors, and really the only options for depicting monsters on covers is really an expensive illustration or less expensive photoshop) I will say Meg is described numerous times as having curves, and I do not see a curve on the front cover. It also feels weirdly sexualized? Which hey I get it, this is a romance, but it feels like the cover was done for the men and not for the ladies. Especially regarding Meg and her pose/outfit.  (iykyk)
