FMC was a gamer/geek girl and usually that doesn't bother me, but when every other sentence is a comparison to a video game or table top rpg or something, it kinda takes me out of the book

I was listening to the audio version, and once the narrator for the MMC came on and had to do any other voice than the MMC, I tapped out.

Minotaur Labyrinth

I read this because someone recommended it, if you liked the movie The Labyrinth. It was a cute book, instead of a Goblin King you have a Minotaur God searching for his mate to help restore the magic to his world. Reminds me of the Dragon Bride series. Only one spicy scene I think, but good plot.

There’s a saucy female gamer - a deliciously large and pierced male Minotaur and a sex contract.

Boink the Minotaur, save the kingdom. Easy choice right?

Sigh. I love monster romance. This book was exactly what I was expecting- a fated mates love story between a human and a monster (in this case a minotaur). There was a creative spin on a love (sex) contract and a handful of magic tossed in. This story even had world building! It felt a lot like ice planet barbarians (in a good way) in terms of the human and the monster needing to learn about each others cultures and the human needing to make a choice between returning to her world and staying with the monster she has grown to love.

I normally don’t love fated mates in fantasy books- but in monster smut I’ll allow it.

Surprisingly sweet, nice and spicy, and a well developed plot. I will absolutely recommend this book and read the rest in the series when they are released.

Thank you to netgalley, the author, and publisher for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Concept: Four woman go to a haunted house, they sign a liability contract that turns out to be a demon sex bargain and get shipped off to various mate scenarios. Our leading lady, Meg, is matched with a Minotaur. Bam.

This was such a goofy little book. I mean that in the best way possible, I spent almost the entire time smiling or laughing. I have a hard time prioritizing the problems with this novel just because I enjoyed the read so much. The characters are endearing and funny, the spice was prime although there wasn't a lot of it which was disappointing because it was good. The plot was all over the place. The first 10% of the book belonged to the girls making their way to the house and signing the contracts. I'm well aware that in series like these each book will have a pairing and yes everybody is sort of interconnected so it can be nice to see a little of each person leading up to their book's release. But, it felt clunky and bogged down with a bit too much detail.

This book is really short though so even though there were problems we didn't sit with them for very long. Like the character who appears at the last 75% mark and is arguably amazing and hilarious, and I enjoyed them and their backstory immensely. Meeting them so late in the game was startling. Devil's advocate though, I don't know that I'd do it differently since the whole book is so goofy. In other circumstances I'd say wow, bad choice, but this book isn't taking itself too seriously so I think we can give it even more license to be silly and delightful.

I will say that overall I think this could have used some tightening up. It's short and had room to grow. I'd have liked to see more time left in their bargain so that we could have seen more of the labyrinth. The market scene was sweet and then chaotic and I loved the dynamics and I wanted more of that. Also, I feel like all the moments with the D guy, whose name I've already forgotten because he was annoying, Not Dirk, the other one. Yeah, he isn't a satisfying antagonistic force and I feel a little played that he defaults to that role in a lot of respects. It could have been done a bit better.

Overall I'd say this is more than worth the read, it's hilarious and adorable and quite a lot better than some of the other demon bargain books I've read recently. Despite the problems I have with it, I can't wait to read the next books in the series. Definitely in it for the long haul with Theo and this freaking mess he's created.

Give it a try if you're into demons and Minotaurs and fated mates with quirky nerd humans. Even if your not. Just try it.

I picked up Matched to the Minotaur at an event where I met the author. I had never heard of her or her books, but the “Smut Alley” ladies were so nice and welcoming I wanted to support them even though I would say this is out of my genre.

This book is an adult monster romance with a happy ending. The writing style was more direct in the 🌶️ than something I have read before. I especially loved the body positive message in this book.

I found the beginning of the story made me feel like it was only written for the 🌶️, I mean there was literally sex magic. 🤷🏼‍♀️ However I did find an interesting storyline that continued throughout to the end. I also loved the demon kitten, he was my absolute f

This was a quick read which I probably could have finished in one sitting. However out of town guests definitely slowed me down a bit.

I would definitely recommend this to friends who enjoy this kind of read. 💚
