I give this book 3 stars.
An enjoyable story but l was left disappointed.l wouldn't class this as a thriller,no explanation for certain things and why they happened and an ending that just didn't deliver for me.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Didn’t enjoy this book at all, couldn’t get what the book was supposed to be about.

Nick and Karen move to a house in the country to make a new start. Nick recently had an affair. Karen had a mental breakdown and ended up in hospital. Neither of them want to talk about what happened and Karen just seems to do things to please Nick.

Too slow, didn’t like the sex scenes or constant drug references. 10/10 would not recommend, the vibes are not vibing.

Suspicious, intense & engaging!

I love Everett's writing style and was engaged in the story from the start, she draws you into a marriage where both sides aren't exactly what they first seem, something is off from she has you constantly questioning the character and their motives.

There is a great mix of characters are all of them have depth and they are fully formed in their own rights each interesting with their desires and flaws which only serves to make them more dimensional. Nick the husband is a particularly hard character to read which builds the intensity.

The novel is set in an idyllic country village surrounded by wide open space is still somehow claustrophobic and eerie creating more intrigue.

It missed out on 5⭐ because I was slightly disappointed by the ending I felt like more could have been done with it. But overall I was captivated by this clever enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more from Everett.

Thanks to HQ Stories for sending me this in exchange for an open and honest review.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

There was a lot to like about this book, I really liked lots of the characters, and disliked the ones I was meant to too. The setting is lovely and I loved the community aspect of it. Our main character Karen is recovering from a breakdown caused by her husband’s unfaithfulness, and is beginning to reevaluate her relationship. The premise was good and I was interested by the strange things happening to her. However I was frustrated when finishing the book as nothing seemed to get answered. Who was responsible for the things that happened? What had happened between her son and her husband at the end? I felt it needed another couple of chapters of cleanup personally, in order for me to give the book 4 stars.
Thank you to net galley, the author and the publisher for gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review.

This should have been a DNF but I skimmed through the rest.
The idea of the book was great but it never came to be. It wasn't thrilling or suspenseful, it felt like something might happen but nothing ever did. I didn't even find out the main characters name until halfway through..
This book just wasn't meant to be for me or honestly probably anyone. Please save yourself the time and don't pick this one up.
