My favorite book series!! I recommend this to every fantasy fan (and also everybody else)
genuinely fantastic but Robin Hobb just explains in detail things WAY to much, if i didnt read 200pages of them walking up a mountain with hardly anything happening it would be 5 stars
I have to say - this is not normally the type of book that appeals to me. However, though it had a slow start, I felt compelled to keep reading, and before you know it, I had blown through 15 books in this (and related) series. Some books are better than others, some series are better than others, but overall, I found myself so entrenched in these books that I've had a hard time moving on. I'm waiting for the next (last?) book to be released.
Fantasy books including castles and kings and dragons and pirates... rooted in that faux-medieval world that so many fantasy books seem to involve, but though there are women in skirts and patrilineal royal families, these books are not sexist, nor are they overtly striving to be feminist (no "exceptional woman," here, but instead many strong woman characters who sometimes battled the sexism inherent in the society, but also a matrilineal society structure in one of the mysterious lands involved in the series). Not that I have an issue with overt feminism, but I have found that some books in this genre tend to make swipes at feminism while instead confimring the sexism inherent in the "period" of the piece. Let me tell you - if you have dragons, you're not talking about a "period," you're inventing an alternate reality and you can't blame sexism on "the period."
Some romance, but these aren't really bodice-rippers (not my thing). Mostly interesting adventure tales with compelling characters and unusual situations.

Such a long series. I was wondering at the end of there should be a fourth book. But this is a hero’s journey book rather than an exciting adventure story. Very good read and reminded me of Tolkien.

I love this author, but this series sort of dragged along and only got interesting in the last 10% of the last book. I LOVED the themes around animals and the relationships that some characters formed with them. It is so rare that an author captures my own love for animals in their writing in the way that this book did. For that, I gave it four stars because it was just so satisfying to read a book where the main character respects animals. The characters were interesting but not as relatable as some of her other work. All in all, a good read, but I wish the whole series could have been more like the last quarter of the third book.

Veiksmas vystosi lėtai, viskas sukasi aplink pagrindinį veikėją ir kaip jo veiksmai keičia pasaulį aplinkui. Paauglio veiksmai ir jausmai erzino - jis darė tiek daug klaidų! O dar ta nuolat auginama įtampa... Bet įtraukė taip, jog pabaigoje buvo tikrai sunku atsitraukti.
