3.5 stars. It seemed a bit advanced for a (sort of) children's book. But it was cute and fun, overall an enjoyable read!

Magical world building and an inspiring
adventurous plot. I absolutely adore Lyra and Pan.

However, this book series has a bad habit of villainizing/othering  indigenous and non-white people and cultures, probably due to its roots in "Boys own stories".

One of my favourite books of all time- Pullman just crafts such brilliant intricate worlds with no page wasted, Lyra is one of my favourite FMC's to ever exist, Mrs Coulter is incredible, the prose is beautiful and intricate and the plot is fantastic. Gender and religion are talked about and woven into the world in such a brilliant, complex way. What a book.

Very good, I wish I knew about this trilogy when I was a child. Beautifully written and enriched with detailed descriptions.

didn't love it as much as I'd hoped....more on that later. Right now, I have a train to catch!
