Carlos is a proponent of joy and love that is refreshing to the soul! His ability to connect with others on his podcast and instagram page is easily translated to the page in this book. How he describes his views of recital reconciliation and social justice is eloquently woven through, and backed by, his love for the Lord. I’d recommend this to anyone wanting to know more about how to be kind to all people, and view them through the lense of Jesus.

Everyone needs to read this book. I cried. I know it’s good when I cry.

I had never heard of Carlos Whittaker before, but a friend gave me this book, and I’m very glad she did. Carlos is an author, podcaster, and global speaker, but even more than that, he is a man of faith, positivity, and hope. In this book, written shortly after those crazy first years of Covid, Carlos brings to light how in today’s world we have become less and less human. Always moving faster, relying more on technology, seeing and loving each other less. Carlos challenges us to do three things: “See humans. Free humans. Be humans.” So many stories, Bible verses, and words of encouragement and positivity. Two of my favorite quotes from the book: “Don’t stand on issues. Walk with people.” and “What can you do today that will make someone feel loved?” Whatever your religious beliefs, political stance, gender, skin color, etc. I recommend you read this book, and I hope that we can all do our best to bring humanity back to the human race. I give this book four sets of hands, reaching out, accepting, empathizing, helping, and loving others. 🤲🏾🤲🏻🤲🏿🤲🏼

I enjoyed hearing Carlos personal stories and lessons he's learned. I love hearing about the good in humanity. This brook reminded me of all the good there is in the world. I'm not religious, so the biblical stuff wasn't of interest to me, but I can still learn from it.

I wish I would have read this sooner. Man have I messed some things up. But this will help me do better. Highly recommend.

First of all, I follow Carlos on Instagram and enjoy his content. His book, Reconnected, was one of my favorites of 2024 so I decided to start reading some back list titles which led me to this one. In our divisive world, this one sounded like it would be right up my alley and in some ways it was but I wish I'd read a few reviews on this one before diving in. Primarily because this book was full of early pandemic content and rehashing all the difficult things of that time from masking to riots to elections etc). Quite honestly, I just don't want to keep going back to that time and there was a lot of it in this book. So if you don't mind rehashing that time frame, this book might be for you.

There are so many good and valid points in this book. I loved the message that we should learn to not stand on issues but walk with people. It's an important message that quite honestly I think many Americans need to be reminded of right now. Carlos reminds us that underneath every issue we argue about on social media, there are real people experiencing joy, pain, sorrow and everything in between. He also uses Jesus as the ultimate example of how to human which I appreciate as a believer and follower of Christ. However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this book for its theology. I don’t agree with every single thing Carlos believes (ex: the innate good of people). But honestly, that’s partly the point of the book anyway, right?? How can we focus on people and relationships, rather than what has the potential to divide us?

One thing he says several times in the book will stick with me: “Don’t stand on issues; walk with people." I love that and hope to apply it in my life.
