This one was a bit of a drag to read, could be because I may not have been in the mood. I do find that with Terry Pratchett you do need to be in a specific mood to truly appreciate the genius of his writing. It’s also because that the story is chaotically organised - he has a very unique way of writing and structuring this world building. This does mean you have to be able to shut your mind down, accept everything is nonsense and whimsical and embrace it - the mental equivalent of ‘sit back and relax’. There’s no point in trying to mentally predict where the story is going, because you simply don’t know - each turn is a new discovery.

I do think this is a bit weaker than The Colour of Magic, and I know generally it’s not recommended you read the book in publishing order as the first couple aren’t the best. But here we are, this is the challenge I set myself.

I would recommend The Colour of Magic, but The light Fantastic I wouldn’t really bother with - there’s nothing particularly new.

The Luggage is one of the best character ever. Slowly I intend in reading all the discworld books.
