Well… That was certainly a very interesting read. Takes a while to get used to, especially since the book is mostly character driven, while plot is not even that important for Mann. I have to admit that it was a hard read, but all in all I would definitely recommend it, especially because it will make you think/wonder about certain topics characters discussed.

A beautiful and rich novel. Maybe a bit too long (my copy fell apart due to the wear of propping it up) but I was sad to turn the last page. In Mann's shorter works, I kept tracking a peculiar strain of Rimbaud's talent for dazzling imagery in his style and this book doubles down on it - his descriptive writing is so precise and vivid it almost prohibits long reading sessions. Great, great novel.
I read this book periodically hence my inability to engage the book with high spirit. Will revisit some time this year
