4.5/5 stars. I couldn't put the book down tbh haha. It was really good and fixed a lot of the things I didn't like about the first book.

Although there still is a little bit of annoying "edgy" language imo. and I at times it was confusing if she was talking out loud or in her head.

Cried like a baby when I finished this book (in public no less). Emotional motion sickness from the constant love you hate you thing. I want to say the ending was predictable but I had it flipped so I am smitten.

Can’t wait for the next book and my next bought of depression.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed the way the story progressed and I enjoyed the individual character developments, especially the relationship between Violet and Xaden, Violet and Sloane, and even Violet and Cat being able to work through it all even when it was sometimes one-sided progress.
I also loved Adarna's storyline! I knew that there was something different to her and I wanted to believe that it was just because she bonded as a feathertail, but knew there was more. I'm annoyed that it took Jessinia reading Lyra's diary before they understood that it would take 7 not six. I didn't know what the 7th would be, but six plus the one........come on people!!
All in all, I was very pleased with the book and can't wait to get the third book when it comes out in 2025.

I just….did not like this book.

For one, i had too many moments of “are things going to start happening soon?” in the first few *hundred* pages. I also could just not get behind the issues of our main characters (after so much empowerment and development in book 1, we decided to do a 180 and make them insufferable???) and oh my word the dialogue and writing.

I really wanted to reserve judgement until finishing the book and giving it a chance to all come together, but i did not look forward to picking it up and didn’t particularly enjoy it while i was reading. I wanted to!! I love to be a fan and it is fun talking to all my friends about a buzzy book.

While i enjoyed Fourth Wing, this was a bust for me.
