Well crafted but distanced. I never felt a pull to character or story.

This book’s story was really great. I loved the characters and how the book turned into a mystery. It added an edge to a young adult feeling book and I appreciated that. I wish the writing style was different and that there were more chapters so I could break up the important parts of the book but other than that it was good!

More 3.5? I liked it both less and more than I expected to. I'd recommend it for sure, though.

I enjoyed the building of the story so much. It felt like taking a step into a familiar time, like reliving part of my childhood. Parts made me burst out laughing - mostly things that JuJu and Cassie said to each other. I enjoyed that part.
I enjoyed the way the story built itself. The ending I didn’t enjoy or follow so well. I think the pull the meaning from it but I’m just not sure it sits well with me. I also don’t think I understand how the title relates to the plot of the story or the ending.

Perhaps the girl is like the match - once it burns it’s finished.

Well constructed but no way did I believe the age of the narrator. Nope not at all. A little too tidy too.
