Diese spezielle Ausgabe von Rowohlt besteht theoretisch aus 50 Seiten. Das Büchlein hat jedoch mehr Seiten mit winterlichen Schwarz-Weiß-Fotos aus New York als Textseiten im Großdruck. Es ist also nur sehr eingeschränkt als (eher ziemlich überteuerte) Beigabe zu einem anderen Weihnachtsgeschenk zu gebrauchen.

Una historia sencilla que nos cuenta cómo un chico va a devolver una cartera perdida a la dirección del DNI y se encuentra con una mujer mayor ciega que vive sola y confunde al protagonista (Auggie Wrent) con su nieto (El chico de la cartera perdida) y pasan juntos el día de Navidad.
No sé si el chico hace bien "engañando" a la mujer sin decirle que él no es quién piensa. Pero, ¿la mujer sabe que él no es su nieto o se hace la tonta? La mujer parece en sus cabales, por lo que yo pienso que está sola y busca compañia. Dónde está esa familia, ¿ese nieto? Es triste ver cómo a veces pasamos de nuestros mayores y los dejamos solos y desamparados cuando no tienen a nadie más..
El relato termina con Auggie volviendo al año siguiente, y la mujer ya no está. Los nuevos inquilinos no saben nada del ella... Sólo pienso que ojalá esa mujer no muriera sola..

This was a flea-market find that has been sitting on the shelf for years waiting for me to remember to read it at Christmas time. This year I remembered. It is a week after Christmas, but close enough.
It's a nice little tale. I felt Paul Auster's agony about having to write on a given topic by a given deadline. I've done that, and it can be painful. That's when it's handy to know an Auggie Wren. :)

No puc explicar gaire cosa perquè el conte és molt curt i ho explicaria tot amb poques paraules, però m'ha sorprès perquè d'entrada no sembla que hagi de ser un conte de Nadal i, d'alguna manera, es respira l'esperit nadalenc al llarg de la narració. M'ha agradat molt la dolçor que desprèn i com d'entranyable és. I, també, el personatge de l'Auggie Wren.
Us el recomano si aquests dies encara teniu algun forat per llegir un conte, en pocs minuts el tindreu llegit.
