The writing felt a little bit slow at times, but the story overall was shocking, intriguing, and sad. I'm glad something was learned from these ladies, but so much more should've been done for them sooner. A very interesting read.

The book was very informative on the subject of the Radium Girls. There was almost too much detail and getting through the book is definitely not for the weak. I listened to a lot of it on audiobook.

I thought this was beautifully written! Be that as it may, you’re going to have to be in a good headspace to read this. It is grotesque, heartbreaking, infuriating, and chilling. The post script genuinely caused me to gasp. I had to take a break a couple of days in and read something else for a little while. However, I absolutely recommend this book, especially if this is a subject or a time period that you’re interested in. The author clearly did her research. I learned a lot while I was reading it and found it very compelling.

4.5 stars. I really loved the book and the accounts of all of the Radium Girls. I do think it was written in too much detail, but the stories were amazing. I couldn’t imagine fighting with every single last breath I had for justice.

This book is a respectful telling of the lives of the Radium Girls. I came into this knowing nothing about them except that they existed and I closed this book only two days later and I have a much better understanding of the situation and the girls. This takes them from a vague concept of workplace safety and transforms them into real women that lived, worked, suffered, and died. The respect the author has for these victims is evident in her writing. This is not a bland statement of facts but a real story that’s being told that makes it easy to read. I highly recommend.

A somber and detailed look into the history of industry, medicine and the lives touched by the glowing element radium.
The Girls working in Radium factories, the "shining girls" glowing with what they thought to be simply a fantastical paint, peddled to the rich as a health tonic and beauty aid. They all took jobs to help their families in what seemed a safe factory setting painting watches, a coveted job for many. The beginning of their stories seems so hopeful and full of promise, it was truly heartbreaking listening as they had so many dreams and their lives taken from them from something they deemed do harmless.
