To co urzekło mnie w tej książce jest fakt, że główna bohaterka jest niemową. W całej książce niewiele jest tam słów. A jednak historia jest magiczna. Czytało się ją bardzo przyjemnie.

This is how you do good YA. Even if I am a bit older, I loved it.
I was vibing with this book. Not only was the formatting with the drawings super unique and cool, but the characters felt real, and I loved them. The story is interesting, and honestly, after this, I will keep reading books about houses!

I would read V.E. Schwab's grocery list. I FREAKING ADORE HER! I'm so glad that I finally read this and enjoyed it just as much as I hoped I would! There were definitely some negative reviews for this one but it also won Goodreads Choice so I honestly had no idea what to expect, but I shouldn't have doubtet that I would enjoy this for a second because it was gorgeous! The VIBES were immaculate! I was getting all the Secret Garden vibes, mixed with a healthy dose of spookiness, and it really was just the perfect precursor to Fall, so I would absolutely recommend reading this in Autumn! I'd also like to note that I really appreciated the realistic portrayal of Olivia's muteness and the ways she adapted in order to communicate; I can't speak for its accuracy because it's not my personal experience, but I'm always here for any kind of disability rep. The audiobook was also SO GOOD and really lent itself well to the overall atmosphere of the book! I thought the plot wrapped itself up nicely, but this was very much a simple story surrounding one mysterious house and the girl searching for somewhere to belong. The writing truly was my favorite part of this book, but the story in general was also really enjoyable and only cemented my love for Schwab's work!

Gallant is a quietly haunting story that pulled me in with its eerie atmosphere and emotional depth. The writing is subtle but powerful, and the world feels rich. What stood out most was how the different pieces of the story slowly came together — subtle, layered, and never too obvious. It’s a book that trusts you to pay attention, and I loved that. The whole experience felt strange, elegant, and beautifully unsettling — a story that lingers in the best way.
While I understand why some readers felt the characters lacked depth, I actually found that distance fascinating. The book doesn’t spell everything out or bring you fully into the characters’ minds — instead, it invites you to watch, interpret, and imagine. That subtle detachment, paired with the eerie atmosphere, made the whole experience even more engaging for me.

I can easily imagine myself rereading this. The writing is high quality and somewhat poetic — and as someone who already loves gothic stories, this one hit exactly right.

Creepy, mystical, unfinished yet satisfying ending. A mysterious orphan story with a journal from a long lost parent. Creepy old house full of mysterious people. Lots of ghouls and ghosts and a creepy alternate universe. Nothing too graphic. No love story. I liked this one! Creepy!
I spent about 90% of this waiting for the story to actually get going and when it did I just...didn't care about it honestly.
