I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Lovely prose as always with any Schwab story. While there was nothing mind blowing in regards to the theme/plot, it was well executed, reading like a gothic fairy tale. Honestly might go out and buy this one to keep with how gorgeous the illustrations are and add to the story.
The narrator for the audiobook did a wonderful job emulating the old, eerie tone of this story.

Het verhaal begint interessant Olivia kan niet praten en ze zit in een weeshuis met allemaal meisjes en ze kan goed van zich afbijten. Olivia ziet schimmen en wezens. En dan moet ze het weeshuis verlaten, maar dan krijgt ze een brief van haar oom en gaat ze naar Gallant waar ze haar neef ontmoet. In het dagboek van haar moeder Grace staat dat Olivia niet naar Gallant moet gaan.
De hoofdstukken zijn lekker kort, ik vond het verhaal niet zo heel leuk. Ik denk dat het een beetje aan mijn leeftijd (35) ligt
