Ik hechtte weinig waarde aan de karakters waardoor het verhaal niet echt spannend werd. Ook werd daardoor het "found family" trope niet goed opgebouwd en ging de relatie tussen de twee karakters opeens van "ik wil niet met je spreken" naar "ik wil sterven voor je" wat een hele gekke sprong was

Jest to już któraś książka V.E. Schwab, którą czytam i szczerze nie potrafię powiedzieć jaki jest mój stosunek do tej osoby autorskiej. Jestem wielką fanką 'Niewidzialnego życia Addie Larue' jednak młodzieżówki, które czytałam wydają mi się dosyć podobne, jakby były napisane na podstawie tego samego wzoru. Takie same odczucia miałam co do 'Gallanta' ale dobrze się bawiłam czytając go. Podobała mi się niepokojaca atmosfera towarzyszaca odkrywaniu sekretów przez główną bohaterkę. Pozytywnie zadziwił mnie fakt, że Olivia jest niema, nie spotkalam się z tym w żadnej innej książce (bonus points for diversity). Muszę też wspomnieć o przecudownej okładce!

In the acknowledgements she says that this book took a long time to write and she didn’t know what would be behind the wall. You can kind of feel that with the ending, every page of the book is so interesting and VES is always amazing at painting worlds, but the ending just felt meh. Death as a character was as spooky and haunting as it should be and the ghouls are so cool instead of just full ghosts, but the ending didn’t do the rest of the great book justice.
