Book 2 was just as good as book 1. Starting off with Claire finally telling her secret to her daughter 20 years later and then jumping back in time to describe, in detail, the time until Culloden. From going to Paris to try to stop Charlie, dueling with Randal and forced out of Paris, back to Lallybroch before being forced to support and lead troops for Charlie. After some time realizing their efforts to stop The Rising had failed, Jamie forces Claire back through the stones to save her and the baby. Jumping ahead in time we also find out that history tells that, “a Fraser of the Master of Lovat’s regiment, escaped.” Ahhh! What will she do with this information? Obviously 200 years later he is dead, but he didn’t in fact die at Culloden as predicted. Can’t wait for book 3!
