Err, I'm a bit disappointed. I wanted this book to be as exciting and interesting, but it wasn't. The ending was confusing and crumpled. I didn't really like Sasha. I maybe liked Leonid a little bit. Hunter was rather interesting, but too grumpy and also very, very confusing.

But! I must say that the pacing of the book was fast and the author's writing style is rather poetic and beautiful.

I don't know, I don't regret reading this book, but I didn't enjoy it that much. Meh. Don't even wanna say anything more about it.

As a casual book reader I have to say that I liked Metro 2034. I haven't read Metro 2033 but I have played both video games (Metro 2033 & Metro last light) which where based on the books.

Even If somebody didn't read the 1st book or played the games he will still get nearly everything of what is happening in Metro 2034.

The book is well written/translated and it describes the world very good. It really sets you in the mood and atmosphere of Post apocalyptic Moscow and its underground.

The characters are (for the most part) well written and balanced. One can understand the reasons and motives for their actions through the descriptions of their past and character.

All in all Metro is a good book. Not perfect, but a good one. I felt and cared for the characters, it kept me interested and excited.

Sorry for any bad usage of the English language. It's not my native language

A big drop off from the first book.

There's an epidemic at a neighbouring station. The guy from the first book--changed by its happenings--wants to end it. A local eccentric wants to go with him and write his story. A girl they pick up on the way wants to save him and help him regain his humanity. A bard will attempt to lure her away with promises of a cure.

It's almost all within the metro itself this time, but save a few standouts, the stations themselves don't have as much of a character, and the story itself feels more of a sidequest than the main event that the first undoubtedly was.
