Not overly original but a great romp for kids and "young at heart" adults. Narrator gets a lot of credit for making it fun throughout with an array of accents.

I grew up reading John Flanagan books and to this day I love them just as much now as I did when I was a kid. This series means everything to me and I’m so happy I started my reread of it.

Every single character in this story leaves their mark on the read. They all have such fun personalities and I love the banter between everyone. Will has to be one of, if not my favorite, protagonist of all time. He’s so likable and it is so fun to watch him grow into being a ranger in this book, and throughout the whole series.

Also Jenny is the best character sorry not sorry.

Very good young adult novel. It's not the most original but for all of those geeks like me that really likes fantasy rangers but never can get their fill, this book is for you.

Wow. Just- just wow. Rtc
The review is here! I finished this book at 10 pm and rolled over and fell asleep. Here is the review!!

"The Ruins of Gorlan," written by John Flanagan, is a riveting five-star tale that seamlessly weaves elements of adventure, friendship, and growth. Set in the Kingdom of Araluen, this captivating book introduces us to Will, a young and underestimated protagonist who emerges as a beacon of determination and courage.

At the heart of this thrilling narrative lies the remarkable character development of Will. Initially perceived as an underdog, Will evolves into a resilient and resourceful young ranger. His transformation throughout the book, from a timid apprentice to a skilled and confident ranger, is a testament to his perseverance and unwavering dedication.

The enigmatic mentorship between Will and Halt, the seasoned Ranger, is a focal point that adds depth to the story. Halt's guidance and wisdom not only shape Will's abilities but also foster a bond that transcends mentorship, evolving into a heartfelt relationship built on mutual respect and admiration. The dynamic between the two characters is beautifully portrayed, showcasing growth, camaraderie, and invaluable life lessons.

Moreover, the inclusion of Horace, a fellow apprentice, enriches the narrative with a compelling trio dynamic. Horace's evolution from a rival to a trusted ally further underscores the theme of friendship and unity prevailing over differences. His journey alongside Will and Halt demonstrates the power of collaboration and solidarity in overcoming challenges.

Flanagan masterfully crafts a world brimming with engaging characters, vivid landscapes, and thrilling adventures. "The Ruins of Gorlan" not only delivers an enthralling plot but also leaves an indelible mark through the profound growth and development of Will, Halt, and Horace, making it an absolute must-read for fans of captivating fantasy and coming-of-age stories.
